Summary

Using Psalm 44 as a model, Pastor Donald shows us how we might respond when our reality does not match up with our past experience of God. When we experience consternation, anxiety and bewilderment at the unexpected, we should not start in complaint and lament, but with an expression of commitment, loyalty, and love. Whatever complaint or lament we bring honestly before God, let us remember we are appealing to God's love, which nothing can separate us from. Though our cries to God may remain unanswered and unresolved by the time we get to the end of the psalm, may we find hope and healing in the waiting, even as we wrestle and deal with the realities of life situations we find ourselves in that don't line up with our past experience.
